Uncover Adjara

Nestled in the western part of Georgia, Adjara borders Turkey and boasts a stunning coastline along the Black Sea. The region features a captivating landscape of mountains and valleys, forming part of the western Meskheti Range. Among its peaks, Kenchauli towers at 2,992 meters, while Khino reaches 2,598 meters. Remarkably, mountains cover 80% of Adjara’s territory, creating a unique interplay between rugged terrain and tranquil seas.
I recently took a girls’ trip (aka kid-less mom trip with my bestie) to this luxurious resort, where we stayed 2 nights in a gorgeous bungalow, indulged at their incredible restaurants, lounged by the pool, and enjoyed rejuvenating facials at the spa.

A Unique Climate

This extraordinary combination of mountains and sea gives Adjara a distinctive climate. The coastal areas enjoy a humid subtropical climate with warm winters and hot summers, while the mountainous regions experience less humidity and snowy winters.

Batumi: The Heart of Adjara

The capital city, Batumi, has rapidly transformed over the past two decades, earning the nickname “Caucasian Dubai.” The city pulses with energy, especially during the summer months, with vibrant nightlife that includes nightclubs, bar-restaurants, and casinos. By day, visitors can unwind or partake in thrilling activities such as ziplining, yacht rentals, and water skiing.

Natural Wonders and Protected Areas

Adjara is home to several unique protected areas and forest parks, perfect for nature lovers. Highlights include Dendrological Park, Kintrishi Reserve, Mtirala National Park, Green Lake, and Mirveti Waterfall. These sites showcase the region’s diverse flora and fauna, making them ideal for hiking and exploration.

Culinary Delights and Cultural Richness

The region is not only known for its stunning landscapes but also for its rich culinary and cultural heritage. Adjara’s cuisine is a delightful experience, with the standout dish being Adjara khachapuri—a doughnut-shaped pastry filled with cheese and egg yolk, reminiscent of the sun setting over the sea.

In addition to its culinary gems, Adjara boasts a unique national costume that stands out with its distinctive cut and vibrant colors. The region’s folklore is equally captivating, featuring cheerful poetry and traditional dances like “Khorumi,” a spirited martial dance, and “Gandagana,” an energetic romantic performance, which together embody the essence and character of Adjara.
